To set up a CommandWorx Point of Sale (POS) network, use the CommandWorx app to create a dedicated, secure Wi-Fi network.
- Access Networks: Open the CommandWorx app and tap the “Networks” tile from the Home screen.
- Add POS Network: Tap the plus sign (+) to add a new network.
- Create Network: Select the option to create a new network (or find the pre-configured POS network if it exists).
- Configure Wi-Fi:
- Enter a unique Network Name (SSID).
- Create a strong Wi-Fi Password.
- Choose a Security Type (like WPA2/WPA3).
- Enable Access: Tap Options or Edit to customize settings:
- Enable Wired Network Access and/or Wireless Network Access as needed for your terminals.
- Disable Broadcast SSID to hide the network from casual users (you’ll need to manually connect devices).
- Enable Inter-Isolation (cannot be disabled) and potentially Intra-Isolation to lock down the POS network.
- Save Settings: Tap Save.
- Connect Devices: Connect your POS terminals to this new network using the SSID and password you created, often through WPS or manual Wi-Fi setup.
Key Security Settings
- Intra-Isolation: Prevents POS devices from communicating with each other on the network. Only use if devices connect directly to the internet/payment processor.
- Inter-Isolation: Prevents POS devices from seeing or being seen by devices on your primary or guest networks, essential for security.
- Broadcast SSID: Turning this off makes the network invisible to general searches, adding a layer of obscurity.
